Darkrooms and Safe Light by SleepyValentina

Official Description: A vampire who has been dead for decades meets a young woman who hasn't yet begun to live. They could bring each other to life...if he doesn't kill her first. A FGB piece for Katinki. WIP

Voyeurward, y'all.
I loves me some deviant Edward. Even when he's bringing strange women home to take photos of their O face. Actually, especially when he's bringing women home to photograph their O face.

Bella is a waitress in an Atlantic City casino. She's an interesting character. Edward is both hot and interesting as well. But the *real* reason you want to read this immediately... SleepyVal's writing.

Her storytelling is compelling in the way she reveals elements of both characters' backstory and then links them together in the present. All within a single chapter. The writing itself is as tight as a virgin Bella - each sentence seems purposeful in its construction. There's humor and richness. And I love how she mixes elegant writing and deviant behavior!

So, back to Bella. I enjoy watching her negotiate who she is.
"She pulls a few options from the closet she shares with Kate and tosses them onto her bed, knowing her dilemma isn't so much about what she wants to wear as who she wants to be."

SleepyVal peppers her description of Bella's thoughts with excellent lines that reveal the depth of her intelligence. One chapter there will be commentary on the issue of gentrification. The next chapter she will be adoring that Edward has left her a handwritten note and reflecting on the value of old fashionness.
"she sees haste as a tragedy of contemporary society."

And Edward, fighting the good fight of restraining both his blood lust and man lust. The tension is hot as Bella just wants him to touch her.
"She thinks she'll die if he doesn't touch her; he thinks she'll die if he does."

Gah!
